"Worlds Richest"
Tarpon Tournament

Boca Grande welcomes you to the 10th annual "World's Richest" Tarpon Tournament. We are glad you are here to celebrate with us the finale of another great tarpon season in this unique and special place. The Chamber of Commerce with the help of an army of volunteers and sponsors has once again put together a celebration that will be fun and exciting.

Please use caution as you read through this year's Tournament Program as you may be subject to an increased heart rate and an adrenaline rush! In addition to the $165,000 in cash prizes and trophies, winning teams and captains will receive some great prizes including a Rolex watch, Prompanette fighting chairs, vacation packages and lots more. We've got a truck to give away to the captain whose team catches the first 150-pound tarpon. If money and prizes don't excite you, the prestige of winning the "World's Richest" will. This is the Super bowl of tarpon tournaments and the name of the winning angler and captain are remembered for a long time.

In order to help us make this another memorable "World's Richest," please take the time to read the Tournament Rules and Regulations. A safe, fair and enjoyable fishing tournament using traditional fishing methods is our first priority.

We hope you will join us at the tournament parties for great company, great food, and great music in beautiful locations. The Rules and Regulations Party on Tuesday night is the chance for participants, officials and sponsors to enjoy the elegant gulf-front Boca Bay Pass Club. Downtown Boca Grande is the site on Wednesday evening for everyone to join the company of the island community, dance to the music of the Boogiemen, and win big at the raffle drawing at the Silver King Celebration! On Thursday evening, anglers, captains, sponsors and volunteers celebrate the success of another "World's Richest" Tarpon Tournament in a historic setting at the Boca Bay Power House.

Family and friends who cannot be out in the Pass will enjoy the tournament from the spectator area at the south end of the Island. Pontoon boat rides, close to shore fishing, food and festivities make this an exciting location from which to share the action.

We encourage you to buy lots of tournament souvenirs! Original art by island artist Patty Middleton make the T-shirts and posters collector items. Please patronize those businesses that have contributed to make this tournament possible. A special thanks should be given to our Platinum Sponsors who include Boca Bay Properties, Inc., Coral Creek Golf and Fishing Club, Englewood Community Hospital, Gasparilla Properties, Gulfwind Marine at Palm Island, Johnson Engineering, Safety Harbor Homes, Inc., and Sonny's Real Pit Bar-B-Q.

Fish on!
